Sponsoring
In March 2020, the 42nd Annual Conference of the German Linguistic Society (DGfS) will be held at the Universität Hamburg. The DGfS conference is the most important regular event of its kind in Germany.
We expect approx. 700 participants from Europe and overseas, many of them high-ranking experts. Linguists from all over the world use the three-day conference and its satellite events as an international forum for the presentation of their current research and for professional exchange.
The general topic of the 42nd Annual Conference of the German Linguistic Society leads into widely discussed fields of research: Multilingualism, Language contact, Language variation, Language change, to name but a few. It opens up theoretical perspectives as well as the discussion of empirical methods and digital resources, the use of technologies and questions of sustainability. The concept of resources also includes cognitive/mental resources in multilingualism or multilingual (inter)action and can be empirically analyzed.
Our high-profile keynote speakers will be:
- Prof. Carol Padden (San Diego, Sign Language)
- Prof. Elke Teich (Saarbrücken, Language Variation and Digital Resources)
- Prof. Yaron Matras (Manchester & Cambridge, Language Contact)
- Prof. Jürgen Meisel (Hamburg & Calgary, Language Acquisition).
Other working formats are:
- 17 linguistic workshops;
- a poster session on computational linguistics
- a tutorial on computational linguistics
- a doctoral colloquium
- the "Teacher's Information Day", hosted by the Teacher Training Initiative of the DGfS
- and the Annual Conference of the Pragmatic Linguistics Working Group („Digital Pragmatics“).
